This presentation will use resiliency theory as the basis for discussing risks and vulnerabilities frequently associated with aging. This theory forms the basis for presenting how the mutual aid group has imbedded in it, protective factors, processes, and mechanisms which strengthen the resiliency of older persons. The skills of working with older persons in groups will be a primary focus. Illustrations from work with older persons in long-term care facilities will be shared. Participants are encouraged to bring their own practice examples.
